Collection: Pu'er Tea

Pu'er is our favorite type of tea here at Woven Roots, hailing from Yunnan province in southwest China. This unique tea comes in two distinct styles: Sheng (Raw) and Shou (Ripe). Sheng pu'er develops slowly through natural fermentation over years or even decades, evolving in flavor and complexity with age. Shou pu'er, by contrast, undergoes an accelerated wet-pile fermentation process for 40-50 days, transforming the leaves into a rich, dark, earthy tea with immediate depth. Both styles are typically pressed into cakes, bricks, or other traditional shapes for aging and storage.
